Overview
My dissertation examines how AI is conceptualized and learned within gendered professional spaces designed for women. The goal is to inform design implications for AI literacy programs and community initiatives supporting women’s participation in AI.
Situated at the intersection of discourse, technology, design, and AI, this project brings humanistic approaches to communication into conversation with emerging AI practices, illuminating how sociotechnical futures are imagined, negotiated, and contested.
By treating AI as both a technical system and a discursive object, the study investigates how talk about AI and practices of engaging with AI are organized in a women-centered community and what those patterns reveal about who gets to be “in AI”.
